is the fourth largest city of Hungary. It lies on Hungary's south-eastern border, just south of the mouth of the Maros River, on both banks of the river Tisza. It is the capital of the county of Csongrád. It is commercial and cultural city of the region. Szeged is one of the centres of the food industry in Hungary, especially known for its paprika, Szekelygulyas and Pick salami.

Pokud necestujete vlastním vozem, nejlepší způsob jak cestovat do Szegedu je pravděpodobně vlakem přes Budapešť. Pokud přijedete na budapešťské letiště, autobusové nebo vlakové nádraží, budete se muset dostat na modrou linku metra a vystoupit na vlakové stanici Nyugati. Rychlíky jezdí téměř každé dvě hodiny (cesta trvá asi 3 hodiny) a vlaky Inter City jezdí čtyřikrát denně. Přímo před vlakovým nádražím v Szegedu je tramvajová zastávka , odkud se dostanete do centra. Pokud míříte do centra města, jeďte tramvají směrem na náměstí Széchényi. Odsud si určitě prohlédnete centrum velmi dobře.

Votive Church

It is the fourth largest church in Hungary. The dome is 54 m outside (33m above the inside floor) and the towers are both 91m high. The "Heroes' bell" in the tower on the Tisza side weighs 8600 kg.

Municipal Somogyi Library

has about 1 million volumes of books and periodicals. Many of them are in English, German and French. The University of Szeged also has specialized libraries. The Central Medical Library contains 138.000 books and periodicals and has a direct medline connection with the European medical databases.
